Alice Velthuizen is a newly retired Special Education teacher, specializing in an Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading and teaching English as a second language. Certified in Ontario, Canada to teach primary, junior, and intermediate students, Alice loves working with small groups. She served as the Director of Student Support Services and ESL teacher for the past 17 years, and a classroom teacher for seven years prior to Special Education. Using best practices, Science of Reading, and Orton-Gillingham strategies to bring the joy of reading to students makes her heart sing.

Currently living in Hamilton, Ontario, Alice and her husband love to travel to New York City, Chicago, South Korea, and Toronto to visit children and grandchildren.
